Back at it

So after 2/3 months of helping do up a house around working full time I am now finally reaping the rewards and have a much bigger and dedicated hobby area. It felt great to get building and painting models again after so long. I have a massive list of projects that I have fallen behind on but now I can get cracking into them.

New working area with James May looking suave on the tele

It is no where near as clean as that now sadly but progress is being made on two of the projects.

First up is my 1980’s US Army for Team Yankee. Decided to go for Butlers Printed Models for the bulk of the forces. The M1’s I am not 100% sure where I got those however they are metal. Minimal clean up on the 3D printed stuff and they are awesome quality for the price. I would recommend them to anyone looking for cheap 15mm modern-ish forces.

Some progression on the US, green isnt the NATO green that was used but in the table it wont matter. Going for the camo below (pic from Battlefront)

My other new pet project is Necromunda v2.0 or Shadow War as it is known. I loved Necromunda growing up so I was super excited to see this. Not having a massive amount of time to spend builting and painting a custom force just now I have opted for Grey Knights. Inital army comp is 4 models and going for a close combat style that is amazingly stupid in 2nd ed 40k rules but I am a Space Marine and the Emperor Protects.

And finally the list of shame. Two commissions at the top, although I am doing them for free to try out new techniques so unsure if they can be classed as commissions.

Hopefully back to more regular posting, I do have some more Dropfleet and Dropzone stuff to throw out there as well as a BloodBowl team on the way so expect some new things as well as revisiting some old projects.

Cheers 🙃

Weekend Warrior

The power is out in my office so I can actually get around to updating this. Its been a hectic week with a funeral and trying to sort out all the stuff that goes with that around work. Now that its all over and I have had the weekend to blow off some steam I managed to get a wee bit of work done yesterday morning.

This load of DZC UCM has been set up and sprayed Army Painter Camo Green (Imperial Guard Green). I was on that much of a roll I didnt even photograph them. After the green dried I airbrushed them brown (Vallejo Air Mahogany). Honestly its a very poor representation of a camo scheme but its 10mm and I wanted them painted for the tabletop. It was at this point I realised I was half way thru de-spruing my Early War Germans and went back to finish those.

20 bases of infantry, 3 spotter teams and 6 command bases. Not bad for a single box.

The quality of the PSC stuff isnt on par with the Battlefront stuff but honestly in 15mm who cares. Look at the picture and can you really tell the difference. If it was heroic 28mm or even 54mm I understand but anything 15mm and below within reason doesnt need all that much detail. Just plenty of decent bulk detail that you can contrast paint.

Panzer Force Blue is nearing completion. I was given a few Cardassian ships to paint for a friend so they are next on the chopping block then I will hopefully have found my balls and actually tackle the NMM Gold effect I habe been shying away from for so long.

Until next time 🙂

Real Life Interuptions

So its been a while, real life really has a way of stopping your hobby in its tracks, some family stuff that will sorted by the weekend then hopefully back on track. I have bee doing the odd bit of hobby when I get a chance however.

Work on the Early War Germans continues, now that the Panzers are sorted I am moving onto the infantry and they are sort of getting there. This shoddy picture is of them post wash, just need to do the helmets, add the Heer symbol then get them based. So I am about 50% of the way thru with them:

Also picked up some more DZC stuff for my UCM. I traded away the PHR pile from the show to my friend who already plays PHR and he gave me some UCM stuff in return. Few pics below of what I have to paint:

All in thats 4 Ravens (2 A and 2 B), a Ferrum, Kodiak, starter box plus 2 boxes of super special troops, cannot remember their name for the life of me.

PanzerForce Blue

Finally managed to get my Panzer’s to a point where I am happy using them on the table top. There is still more work to be done but they can be packed away now and depending on how much use they get I will see how much more work I want to put into them. Here is a few snaps below:

Also got started on my next wee side project, something to do while the paint is drying on other stuff, behold The Black Knight!!!

After the Panzers were sorted I moved onto the infatry, some PSC Early War Infantry, only one picture as I forgot to document their progress

No game this week sadly, did get some Magic in, 6 person draft and managed 2nd with a rather nice UB deck. Hoping to make the Conspiracy launch this weekend. Also made up my character for the next Sunday Night Roleplay game, Star Trek TNG era, I am the Chief Medical Officer…. Expect lots of dead crew

Knight Titan

Yet more old models come to the fore. When I first saw previews for this model, even though I had taken a step back from 40K and gaming in general, I knew I had to have it. And so I made my pre order at my FLGS and it was everything I had hoped for and more. It just oozes imtimidation, nothings says “dont fuck with me” like a massive chainsword.

Some time went by and I decided to paint it up in a very generic AdMech colour scheme with a little Imperial Fists thrown in for good measure. It has languished in a KR Case for a while now, painted but with no transfers on it. It finally has those now and just a little more work on the base will see this monster complete.

Full on frontal

Named him Khan after the greatest Star Trek villan of all time, (very badly) hand painted banner

In other news I made a little progress with Operation Panzer. The drybrushing is now finished. Next up is the decals then onto the weathering.

Pre and post drybrushing

March of the Panzers

I will need to get a move on as these guys have their first game one week today.

Airbrushing Again

Finally managed to get some airbrushing done in the new flat, not a complete sucess though. I can smell the paint all over the flat so I am pretty sure the extractor isnt working. Just need to open the doors and windows next time. Anyway here is a few pictures of the stuff that is finally based up:

Early war WW2 Germans, all nice and green ready for detail work

15 38ts and 3 panzer II’s ready for drybrushing and detail work

Some Pak 36’s I think and 10 or 15cm howizers, still learning the gun types

The Big E/Rogal Dorn finally has a semi decent looking power sword, still WIP

Damnable Decals

Madness, utter madness, decals in 15mm and 10mm is a pain in the arse. So much easier on 28mm models. Anyway here is a few shit pictures of my attempts, there will be better pictures later. On the 38t im thinking on changing from the red to yellow numbering, its far to dark sadly.

Also managed to figure out my airbush problem by making a super long exhaust hose that no doubt doesnt work but damn it looks good
